Blood Knot - Profile Theatre

Early on, Kevin Jones (director) and I identified the underlying pulse of the show. Coupled with that there were many references to the alarm clock that existed in the world of the play so we decided to embrace the concept of the ticking alarm clock. We used all the scripted rings and added the ticking during moments of tension, importance, or heightened emotion. The clock was put in sync with an amalgamation of both of the actors recorded heartbeats. We additionally created recordings of the actors’ circulatory systems though contact mics to create lush and dense soundscapes to further emphasize the production.
